Quality Standards and Requirements

The following table details Community Options' Quality Standards and Requirements for service providers registered with us:

2 Effective Management The organisation demonstrates effective management processes based on a continuous improvement approach to service management and delivery
3 Effective Human Resource Management The organisation demonstrates sound human resource management processes including staff recruitment, induction, training and police check requirements as stipulated in the Clause 20 of the standard service agreement. Additional information on police check requirements can also be found in police check guidelines
4 Effective Information Management System The organisation has an appropriate information management system that assists with effective and efficient management of service requirements and communication
5 Regulatory Compliance The organisation meets legislative and statutory requirements including the health and safety requirements
6 Working With Vulnerable People Registration Registered providers must have a Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) Registration and all employees must have current WWVP cards
7 Risk Management, Insurance and Indemnity

Service providers are required to identify and manage potential risks to ensure safety of clients, staff and the organisation. The service provider is also required to indemnify Community Options against any liability arising from service provision and maintain appropriate levels of insurance. Community Options registered service providers must therefore meet the following requirements for insurance (as relevant):

Public liability and professional liability insurance for an amount of not less than $10 million (ten million dollars);

Worker’s compensation insurance as required by the ACT legislation;

Any other insurance in respect of any liability that may arise out of the provision of services.

Community Options registered service providers are required to submit copies of certificates of currency for relevant insurances upon renewal schedule. The certificates of currency can be mailed, faxed or e-mailed to Community Options.
