What is the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) all about?
If you want to stay in your own home, but need some help with daily tasks, or require entry level care, the Commonwealth Home Support Programme may be able to help.
The Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) is a new Programme which is designed to provide all older Australians (65 years and over) with connections with to appropriate entry-level home support services to assistance with daily living.
The aim of the CHSP is to help older Australians stay independent and in their homes and communities for longer.
Services available under the CHSP include:
- Domestic assistance (e.g. home cleaning, shopping assistance)
- Home Modifications
- Personal Care (e.g. showering, personal grooming)
- Social Support (e.g. social activities)
If you are able to live and cope on your own and don’t yet need higher levels of support, you may be able to access support services under the CHSP.
To get CHSP support at home, you will need to have a Home Support Assessment. This face to face Assessment will be conducted in your home by the Regional Assessment Service (RAS). All you need to do is call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 and they will work out what you need.
Carers of Older People
The CHSP is also able to help carers of older people. If your carer needs to attend to everyday activities, the CHSP can arrange for someone to help you while they are away. Call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 and they will work out what you need.
