The Commonwealth Home Support Programme
The Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) commenced on 1 July 2015 and is accessible only through the new aged care system called My Aged Care. To determine if you are eligible for CHSP, you will need to call the My Aged Care Contact Centre on 1800 200 422.
It is a new Commonwealth aged care programme for people aged 65 years and over or 50 years and over for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
The CHSP is designed to provide all older Australians with information and connections with appropriate entry-level home support services to assist with daily living.
The aim of the CHSP is to help older Australians stay independent and in their homes and communities for longer. Carers of older people will also receive support under the CHSP.
Community Options provides a number of aged care support services under the CHSP.
